About Us
The George Fentham Before and After School Club opened in September 2001 with two members of staff and a handful of children using the facility. Within a few months, we had to take on a further member of staff as demand was so high. The name was a bit of a mouthful so a 'name the club' competition was organised for the children and 'the Base' was born.
The Base now provides before and after school care and since 2004 offers nursery wraparound care for the schools' pupils. The Base also runs holiday schemes to give parents extra cover and flexibility.
The Base is a non-profit making organisation supported by a Voluntary Management Committee (VMC) made up mainly of parents and carers. The VMC meets on a regular basis and encourages input from other parents.
All full-time staff are fully qualified, CRB checked and first aid trained with other staff being CRB checked and working towards a qualification. All staff are continually updating qualifications. There is always a fully qualified and first aid trained staff member working at any one time and we have an adult to child ratio of 1adult to 8 children.
For more information, please do not hesitate to contact us.
